The C-List is a podcast that celebrates the third string characters in movies from the last 30+ years. We’re not here to talk about the Batmans and James Bonds of the sliver screen, but their lesser known subservient backup dancers. Through excessive research, conspiracy theories, ludicrous accusations and conclusions, we dive into the characters that unknowingly shape and drive the movies that we love.

More illustrations from the fantastic podcast by Luke Milton and Mike Taylor. Each episode explores two of cinemas biggest littlests, and I’ll be along for the ride illustrating their exploits.

The above illustrations are for

Episode 007 – Turtle Time/Saxy Sex
Episode 005 – Supernatural Shocker/Felt Contempt
Episode 004 – Two Dollar Vengeance/Wanna Buy a Monkey?

Check out the episodes here!

Two funny guys, Luke Milton and Mike Taylor are embarking on a cross cultural, cross oceanic adventure together with their podcast The C-List!

glorious bounty illustration

If you haven’t been reading Glorious Bounty, go and read it, and then buy it, and then read it in real life. It’s written by Luke Milton and illustrated by the amazingly prolific comiceer Edward J Grug.
This is probably my favorite comic project that either of them have done, the scripts push Edward’s illustrations in to crazy new territory, and the illustrations pull Luke’s story in to a super cute world.

The above drawing is of two of the main characters, the murderous robot PK and shifty grifter Deevis done in my 8 Bit Dreams style.

Here are some more sketches from the Bloodbarian game book project I’m working on with writer Luke Milton. I’ve been playing around with our protagonist, the Bloodbarian, trying to find a look for him that was identifiably ‘barbarian’, but still unique.
You can see more sketches in the Bloodbarian gallery.

Genius playwrite, comicwrite and blogwrite Luke Milton and I are currently developing a collaborative book project based on the classic Fighting Fantasy game book series. I was obsessed with these books when I was younger, and became interested in them again after cleaning out an old store room of things and finding my FF collection.

Right now, we’re in the concept stage, bouncing sketches and prose off from one another about how we’d like the project to develop. I’ve posted a bunch of rough sketches in the projects page for you to check out, and Il’l be updating with more ideas as we go along.

The illustrations will most likely be rendered using the same medium as the Snow White series I did, only much darker.

We’re not sure how the end product will come about, there’ll definitely be an online version, but wether we seek a publisher, or we self publish, or run a kick starter campaign, we’re not yet sure.

You can check out some of the sketches I’ve done here. And if you have any thoughts on the project, or fond memories of Fighting Fantasy books, I’d love to hear from you.

comics committee

Posted by campbell August 28th, 2010

I have assembled a crack team of elite comics creators who meet (in)frequently to discuss our global conquest of all things comicy. This team includes (from left to right)

Luke Milton
Playwrite, comicwrite, blogwrite, writewrite and creator of the horribly offensive Bunnies Who Hate.
Edward J Grug
Disturbingly prolific comics machine with more finished comics and ongoing works than there are words.
Jessica Mcloud
Crafter of the cutest comics known to man and the deadliest woman with an excel spreadsheet in the world.

Topics covered included.
What’s this Scott Pilgrim thing?
Floppy landscape books are gross.
What colour was Luke’s lightsaber?
Ninja is a big book.
We like buying arts prints.
Hurry up and make your comic already!

The committee will commit again soon, with new hard and heavy (breathing) topics covered.
Watch out!
