drawing a bike from memory


I saw a post over at BoingBoing a few days ago challenging readers to draw a bicycle from memory. I was at work, and did a quick piece on some scrap paper. After finishing I check with some photos of bicycles to see how I’d done. Some parts are missing, but it’s not too bad.

I’ve since dragged it in to photoshop to colour it, which is what you see above.

It’d be a fun challenge to do more of these “from memory” drawings of other, complicated, everyday objects.

The project was started by Andrew Neher over at Bike Drawings. There are a ton of great examples over there, from super accurate ones, to the ridiculously wrong. They’re all wonderful, in fact, the “worse” they are, the better!
